Glyburide (Diabeta) Side Effects

Like most medications that are used to treat diabetes, Glyburide may come with unwanted side effects. This usually happens when you don’t take this medication as it was prescribed by your health-care provider. In case you experience any side effects that are worrisome, you should call your doctor immediately.

Common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Weight gain
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea

When you overdose on Diabeta, it may result in hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is a serious condition where your blood glucose levels falls to dangerous levels. If not treated, hypoglycemia can become severe leading to coma or even death.

It is important you watch out for symptoms of hypoglycemia including the following:

  • Shakiness
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Headaches
  • Irritability
  • Fast heart rate
  • Weakness
  • Hunger
  • Unconsciousness
  • Blurred vision
