It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and improving airflow to the lungs. Using this medicine helps patients breathe more easily.Spiriva HandiHaler contains the active ingredient Tiotropium, part of a class of drugs called anticholinergics.

Precautions and Warnings

Direction of Use

Use Spiriva capsules only with the HandiHaler device. Avoid swallowing it. Note that this medication is intended for oral inhalation only.Doctors recommend two inhalations of the powder contents of one Spiriva capsule, once daily, using the HandiHaler. Avoid taking more than one dosage within 24 hours.
