Precautions and Warnings

 Prozac, or fluoxetine, carries important precautions and warnings. It may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts, serotonin syndrome, and allergic reactions. Interactions with other medications are possible, and abrupt discontinuation can lead to withdrawal symptoms. Long-term use may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures.  Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should discuss risks with their healthcare provider. Dosage

 Recommended doses for Prozac vary according to the condition being treated: 
  • Depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder: 20 mg orally once daily, with a maximum daily dosage of 80 mg.
  • Panic disorder: 10 mg orally once daily, with a maximum daily dosage of 60 mg.
  • Bulimia: 60 mg orally once daily.
  • PMDD: 20 mg orally once daily, with a maximum daily dosage of 80 mg.
