Plavix (Clopidogrel)
Plavix is an antiplatelet medication used to prevent blood clots that could lead to heart attack, stroke, or other serious cardiovascular events. It works by preventing blood cells called platelets from sticking together and forming clots. Plavix is often prescribed for people with a history of heart disease, stroke, or peripheral artery disease, and those who have undergone certain procedures like stent placement or bypass surgery.

Benefits:

• Reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other serious cardiovascular events.
• Helps prevent blood clots in people with coronary artery disease (CAD), peripheral artery disease (PAD), or after a recent stroke.
• Often used in combination with other heart medications like aspirin for added protection.

Dosage:

• Typically taken once daily, with or without food.

Warnings and Precautions:

• Not recommended for individuals with active bleeding, such as ulcers, intracranial hemorrhage, or recent trauma.
• May increase the risk of bleeding, so avoid using with other blood thinners unless directed by your doctor.
• Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney problems, or a history of stomach ulcers.
• Stop taking before surgery (including dental procedures) due to increased bleeding risk.
• Use with caution if you have low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia).

Usage Instructions:

• Take one tablet daily at the same time each day.
• Swallow the tablet whole—do not crush, chew, or split.
• It may be taken with or without food.
• Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding whether to take it with aspirin or other medications.
• Do not skip doses or stop the medication without consulting your doctor.

Storage Information:

• Store at room temperature (20°C to 25°C), away from moisture and heat.
• Keep the medication in its original packaging to protect it from light.
• Keep out of reach of children.
