Jardiance Vs Janumet. Jardiance and Janumet are the anti-diabetes medicines used in treating type 2 diabetes. Although these medicines share similar roles in controlling blood sugar levels, they still have significant differences. These differences include their functions, dosage, price value, and side effects.

Uses

Jardiance is the brand name for the drug Empagliflozin. Treatment with Jardiance involves proper diet and correct exercise. Besides diabetes, this medicine can also reduce the risk of heart disease.

Janumet is also an oral medication for treating type 2 diabetes. It is available under the generic names Metformin and Sitagliptin. The combination of these anti-diabetes agents enables insulin sensitivity and prevents diabetes attacks.

Dosage

The initial dose for Jardiance is 10 mg orally once per day. The patient must take this medicine in the morning. If additional glycemic control is necessary, the dose will increase to 25 mg per day, which is the maximum dose one can take. Jardiance is available as a film-coated tablet.

As mentioned, Jardiance is not only designed for treating diabetes but also for cardiovascular risk reduction. Jardiance’s dosage for this particular condition:

  • Take 10 mg of Jardiance once per day (usually in the morning).
  • The maximum dose is 25 mg per day.

On the other hand, Janumet also comes in tablet form. Individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes need to take one dose of Janumet two times daily with meals. Its maximum dosage is:

  • One dose of Janumet containing 100 mg of Sitagliptin and 2000 mg of Metformin Hydrochloride.
