Alphagan is a brand name for brimonidine tartrate, an ophthalmic solution used to treat elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in conditions such as glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Developed by Allergan, Alphagan works by reducing the production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye) and increasing its outflow, thereby lowering eye pressure. It is typically prescribed when other treatments are insufficient. Common side effects can include eye redness, dry mouth, and fatigue.
