Lantus Cartridges contain insulin glargine, a long-acting insulin analog used to control blood sugar levels in individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. These cartridges are designed for use in compatible insulin pens, offering convenience and precise dosing for daily insulin needs.

  • For type 2 diabetes, the usual starting dose is 10 units once daily, adjusted as needed.
  • Administer once daily at the same time each day.
  • Dose adjustments should be made in increments of 2-4 units every few days, depending on blood sugar monitoring results and healthcare provider recommendations.

Warnings and Precautions:

  • Do not use Lantus if you are allergic to insulin glargine or any of its ingredients.
  • Always use Lantus Cartridges as part of a comprehensive diabetes plan that includes diet and exercise.
  • Do not inject Lantus into a vein or muscle. It is for subcutaneous use only.
  • Regularly monitor blood sugar levels to avoid hypo- or hyperglycemia.
  • Inform your healthcare provider about other medications you are taking, as they may affect blood sugar control.
  • Consult your healthcare provider if pregnant or breastfeeding for appropriate insulin adjustments.

Usage Instructions:

  • Use Lantus Cartridges with a compatible reusable insulin pen.
  • Inject subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites regularly.
  • Do not mix Lantus with other insulin products in the same syringe or pen.
  • Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for proper use and storage.

Storage Information:

  • Store unused cartridges in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
  • After first use, keep cartridges at room temperature below 77°F (25°C) for up to 28 days.
  • Protect from direct sunlight, heat, and freezing. If frozen, discard the cartridge.

Common Side Effects:

  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially if meals are missed or the insulin dose is too high.
  • Injection site reactions such as redness, swelling, or itching.
  • Weight gain as a common effect of insulin therapy.
  • Rare allergic reactions, including rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling. Seek immediate medical attention if this occurs.
