Description

Uses of Lumigan

Lumigan (bimatoprost) is a prostaglandin medication primarily used for lowering pressure in the eye. It is recommended for individuals who have been diagnosed with ocular hypertension (elevated pressure within the eye) or open-angle glaucoma. By facilitating the drainage of fluid from inside the eye, Lumigan helps to reduce intraocular pressure, thereby mitigating the risk of optic nerve damage and vision loss associated with these conditions.

Precautions and Warnings

Long-term use of Lumigan (bimatoprost) can permanently darken the color of the iris and eyelids. Regular check-ups with your healthcare professional are necessary to monitor any changes in your eye appearance. If you have a history of eye inflammation or any eye injury, Lumigan may increase the risk of inflammation and swelling. Notify your healthcare professional promptly if you experience eye irritation, redness, or vision changes while using Lumigan. Lumigan contains a preservative called benzalkonium chloride that can damage or discolor soft contact lenses. Remove your contact lenses before using Lumigan eye drops to prevent potential harm to your lenses.

Dosage

Lumigan (bimatoprost) is typically administered as 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.

Direction of Use:

  1. Before instilling Lumigan eye drops, ensure that your hands are clean and dry.
  2. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down the lower eyelid to create a tiny pocket.
  3. Place the dropper tip near your eye, but do not let it touch, then gently squeeze the bottle to administer one drop into the eye.
  4. Avoid blinking or rubbing your eyes after administration.
