What is Humalog?

Humalog is a fast-acting insulin that is used to treat patients with diabetes mellitus. As a fast-acting insulin, the drug starts to work within 15 minutes to reduce blood sugar levels. As a result, it is advisable you take this medicine within 15 minutes before you eat a meal. Humalog is the brand name of insulin lispro. When you inject insulin lispro into the fat tissue of the skin, it works by helping the body tissue store glucose for energy. This helps to lower high levels of blood sugar. The drug also works by preventing the liver from releasing more glucose into the bloodstream.
