Victoza Injection Sites

Share Post:

Victoza is a noninsulin diabetes medication used to improve blood sugar levels in adults and children at least ten years of age with Type 2 Diabetes.

Victoza comes in a prefilled injection pen, available in 0.6mg, 1.2mg, or 1.8mg dose.

Victoza injection sites

Victoza is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm once a day, preferably at the same time everyday. Do not inject Victoza into a muscle (intramuscularly) or vein(intravenously) as it may come with adverse effects.

Victoza may be injected in the same body area in the upper arm, thigh, or abdomen but the injection must not be right next to each other to give the skin some area to breathe. Do not ever inject Victoza on the same site, as it may give rise to some complications. The injection site must be rotated with every injection.

Doctor’s Recommendation

Victoza is an excellent option for individuals with diabetes who are average or near normal weight but would like to reduce their mean blood sugars, as measured via an HbA1c.
